CUPE Local 1011 represents; custodial staff at 89 elementary schools in the Halton District School Board, as well as, a Head Custodian and Lead Hand in 21 HDSB Secondary Schools.
For our members, maintaining A+ clean, safe school is a career. We work year round, including the summer. In fact, summer is the time that we can catch up on major maintenance and cleaning projects and prepare the schools for September.
Being a school custodian means:
- Being the eyes and ears of the school, we know who belongs on school property and who doesn’t
- Maintaining clean classrooms, hallways and grounds
- Ensuring that drinking water is fresh and clean
- Helping to prevent the spread of viruses and other illnesses
- Repairing broken windows, loose tiles and many other problems within the school
- Keeping grounds clean and safe
- Caring for our community.
We are proud of our role in Halton District School Board schools.
